This study deals with a foundational issue of the Apostolic faith; that is, does the Holy Ghost affect the outward actions and appearance of the vessel He chooses to dwell in, or not? Do the standards of conduct and appearance given in Scripture apply to us today, or should they be discarded in favor of a lifestyle that is less obvious and less offensive to modern society?
To avoid the extremes of legalism or liberalism, it is vital to grasp the Biblical concepts behind our disciplines. Many times, Apostolics don’t have a ready or sufficient answer as to why they dress a certain way or abstain from certain things. Saying “this is all I know”, “because I was told to”, or “it’s in the Bible somewhere”, reveals our need to elevate our understanding towards a godly, separated lifestyle. Let’s strengthen our convictions.
